The teeth are one of the most important parts of the digestive system. The teeth provide mechanical digestion for the body. Humans have two sets of teeth in their lifetime, deciduous and permanent. As a child you have deciduous teeth from 6 months to 12 years old. There are 20 total. However, after the age of 12 (normally) the permanent teeth come in and there is a grand total of 32 teeth.
